Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone on Monday cast her vote during the fourth and final phase of Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra, setting aside all those speculations that the actress would not be able to vote this general election as she holds a Danish passport. For those unserved, the Padmaavat actress was born in Denmark and, hence, found herself surrounded by rumours over her Indian citizenship days ahead of the Lok Sabha elections 2019.
Taking to Twitter, the 33-year-old actress gave a stern reply to all those "confused" lot, saying that she had no doubt in her mind about who she is and where she is from. Along with the tweet, Deepika also posted a picture, where she can be seen proudly flaunting her inked finger after casting ballot from Mumbai, Maharashtra.
"Never has there been any doubt in my mind about who I am or where I’m from. So for those of you confused on my behalf...please don’t be!Jai Hind! #proudtobeanindian #govote," the tweet reads.

Dressed in an oversized white shirt, jeans and sneakers, Deepika also posed for paparazzi while stepping out after exercising her franchise. She was spotted arriving at the polling booth flanked with heavy security. With the reports questioning Deepika's civil rights doing rounds on social media, Deepika has quite smartly assured that she has an Indian passport and, therefore, nobody should doubt her ability to cast vote.

Being asked about her Indian citizenship, Deepika at a recent press event said though she was born in Denmark she holds an Indian passport and is a proud Indian citizen who will definitely cast her vote in this election.
In mid-March, Deepika along with 20 other personalities from Indian Cinema, was called upon by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to use their influence to create voter awareness ahead of the 2019 general elections. In the run up to the Lok Sabha polls, Deepika urged people to register their vote and do their bit for the country.
On the work front, Deepika is currently busy shooting for Meghna Gulzar's Chhapaak, which revolves around the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. The film also marks her production debut. Backed by Fox Star Studios, Chhapaak is scheduled to hit the theatres on January 10, 2020.
