Deepika Padukone, who is currently busy promoting her upcoming film Chhappak, conducted a social experiment in order to check out the reactions of people towards acid attack survivors. In the video, Deepika is seen stepping out on the Mumbai streets as Malti along with other acid attack survivors.

Hidden cameras were placed across different locations in Mumbai, which included a mobile store, a supermarket, an accessories shop and a local clothes market. During the social experiment, some people were seen exchanging smiles and behaving cordially, while a few others even refused to help them.

The video ends with Deepika saying, "Aaj pura din bita ke ye jaana ke kuchh nazar ke samne hota hai par dikhta nahi. Nazriya badalna zaroori hai" (After spending the entire day, we relaised that some things are right in front of us but we can't see them. It is important to change perspective)."

Deepika shared the video on Instagram and captioned it as, ''Chhapaak social experiment. Be the change you want to see... A social experiment by team Chhapaak."

Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the film is inspired by the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. Talking about the film, Deepika said at an event, ''The entire journey was special. I don’t think I can speak of a particular moment or scene as the closest to my heart. I think the entire journey and process has been extremely rewarding. It’s the film I am most proud of, among all that I have done in my career. I am not thinking much about people’s reactions after its release because that is a different aspect, but this film is something I am proud of, and I am proud that the entire team had faith in Meghna’s (Gulzar) vision.''

The film is slated to hit the screens on January 10 and it will clash with Ajay Devgn's period drama Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior.
