Film actress Deepika Padukone, who is currently juggling between multiple projects in Bollywood, on Friday wrapped her portion of shooting for Kabir Khan's upcoming biopic film on the life of veteran cricketer Kapil Dev, namely 83. Padukone is essaying the role of Kapil's spouse Romi Dev, while her real-life hubby Ranveer Singh will be seen playing the legendary cricketer in the film. While makers earlier wrapped up the London schedule of the film with Singh, Padukone finished her part in Mumbai yesterday.
The report comes after Padukone on Friday arrived at Mumbai's prominent Lalbaugcha Raja location to take part in the Ganpati Visarjan festivities. As soon as the news of Padukone's presence in the pandal spread out, the excited mob rushed to catch a glimpse of the actress. Deepika's bodyguards reportedly had a tough time escorting the 33-year-old star for a darshan.

Earlier in June, Singh took to his Instagram account to confirm the reports of 'wifey' joining the '83 squad. Sharing a photo of the trio - Kabir, Deepika and himself, Ranveer captioned the photo, "Who better to play My wifey than My wifey?!"
On playing Romi Dev, Deepika, in one of her recent interviews, said she felt inspired every time she met Dev to prepare for the role, adding that her energy is refreshing and that she is intelligent and knowledgeable.
In July, on the occasion of his 34th birthday, Ranveer also treated fans with his first look as Kapil Dev. The actor, who has impressed the audiences with his transformation as Peshwa Bajirao and Alauddin Khilji in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opuses, has once again impressed the audience with his version of the former Indian-skipper.

In the picture, the actor donning a white jersey looks convincing with his wavy hair and moustache as he recreates the all-rounder's bowling action. "On my special day, here's presenting the Haryana Hurricane Kapil Dev," Ranveer wrote on Instagram alongside his photo as the cricketer.

Directed by Kabir Khan, the film will chronicle India's win under Kapil's captainship, when the team defeated West Indies in the final to clinch their first-ever World Cup trophy in 1983. Produced by Madhu Mantena, Vishnu Induri and Kabir, and presented by Reliance Entertainment, the film is scheduled to be released on April 10, 2020.
The movie marks Deepika and Ranveer's first on-screen collaboration post their wedding in November 2018. Apart from 83, Padukone is also busy working for Meghan Gulzar’s Chhapaak- in which she will play the role of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. Chhapaak, which is majorly shot in New Delhi, is one of Padukone's most specials films, the actress said in a heartfelt note on social media. Chhapaak is currently expected to hit the theatres in January, 2020.
