It has been years now since Kangana Ranaut took on 'nepotism' in Bollywood heads-on bringing spotlight on many filmmakers and actress. Pataakha actress Radhika Madan has recently revealed that she has conveniently toppled the practice by replacing a popular star kid and internet sensation in her upcoming movie Angrezi Medium.
In an interview with Pinkvilla the Pataakha actress hinted at how she had to fight for the role, which she revealed was offered to a star kid initially and the entertainment website reports that it was Sara Ali Khan who was approached for the role initially.
In the candid interview, Radhika revealed how she has time and again faced the brunt of not being a 'famous actor's daughter'. Revealing much about how she bagged the role alongside Irrfan Khan and Kareena Kapoor, Radhika said she insisted on taking her audition for the role and then managed to convince the makers that she deserved the role. Radhika also shared how she didn't receive a call back from the makers because a star kid had already gotten the role she wanted.
She said, "The same thing happened with me. The producer told me I'm giving it to so and so's daughter and I wanted the project. I said you take my audition. Just take my audition I'm not asking for anything else. He agreed, I gave the audition and I got the role."When asked if the film she was referring to was Irrfan's Angrezi Medium, Radhika smirked and said, “I don’t know.â€
Makers of Dinesh Vijan's films, however, has not confirmed the reports.Â
Radhika Madan entered the world of glamour and glitz with Ekta Kapoor's TV soap, Meri Ashiqui Tumse Hai. the actress then went on to star in Vishal Bhardwaj's Patakha alongside Sanya Malhotra and Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota opposite Abhimanyu Dassani. Post Angrezi Medium, Radhika will feature in Dinesh Vijan's Shiddat. The film will bring together actors Sunny Kaushal, Mohit Raina and Diana Penty. Shiddat will be directed by Kunal Deshmukh and will be shot across London, Paris and Punjab.
