Deepika Padukone is currently busy with promotions of her next film, Chhapaak. The movie is based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. Also starring Vikrant Massey in a pivotal role, the film will hit the screens on 10 January, 2020. During a recent event, Deepika was amused when a reporter asked about rumours that she is pregnant. "Do I look pregnant? I will ask you when I will plan (to have a family). If you give me permission then I will plan. If I become pregnant then you will see that in nine months," she retorted.
Speaking to Hindustan Times in an interview, Deepika had said that she and Ranveer definitely want to expand their family but not right now: "I'm not surprised (by the rumours), we're not surprised by it at all. Do we intend on having children? Of course we do, we both love kids. But do we intend on having children anytime soon? Absolutely not! We're too selfishly at this point focused on our careers and I don't think it would be fair to have kids at this point. We're not even thinking about kids."
Meanwhile, apart from acting in Chhapaak, Deepika is also donning the producer's hat for the first time. In an interview with Harper's Bazaar India, Deepika revealed the reason for producing Chhapaak. "I became a producer because I want to reach more people and create an impact through my films. Cinema is such a powerful tool. You want to use that sensibly. You want to use that wisely. I may not be able to do that every single time, but at least that is the intention," she had said last year.
After Chhappak, Deepika will start shooting for her upcoming untitled relationship drama, co-starring Ananya Panday and Gully Boy fame actor Siddhant Chaturvedi, in March.
