US President Donald Trump has lauded the newly released gay rom-com movie, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan featuring Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead role.

Ayushmann Khurrana's Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan hit the screens on Friday and has been receiving a lot of love and appreciation from the audience. The plot of the film revolves around the same-sex relationship and Ayushmann is seen playing the role of a gay for the first time opposite Kota Factory star Jitendra Kumar. And now, US President Donald Trump has lauded the newly released gay rom-com movie.

"Great!" the US president wrote as he retweeted British human rights campaigner and LGBTQ+ activist Peter Tatchell's post praising the Ayushmann Khurrana starrer, thereby acknowledging the movie's progressive stance.

"A new #Bollywood rom-com featuring a gay romance is hoping to win over older people, following the decriminalisation of homosexuality. Hurrah!" tweeted @PeterTatchell.

The retweet has been liked 31.2k times till now. Meanwhile, Donald Trump is all set to visit India on February 24-25 and will be travelling to Ahmedabad, Gujarat from New Delhi. He will be coming along with First Lady Melania Trump and is expected to attend an event at the Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad along the lines of the 'Howdy Modi' function that was held in Texas for Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September last year.

Coming back to Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, it also features Gajraj Rao, Neena Gupta, Manurishi Chaddha, Sunita Rajwar, Maanvi Gagroo, Pankhuri Awasthy and Neeraj Singh in pivotal roles. Bhumi Pednekar has also made a special appearance in the film.

Ayushmann Khurrana recently shared his excitement for his role, "It is a beautiful story told in the quintessential Aanand L Rai style of filmmaking that will touch your hearts and leave a smile on your face." He further added, "It is one of the most brilliant films that I have read in a long time and it handles the subject of homosexuality really sensitively. It is a pleasure to collaborate again with the master storyteller of our times. It is an out and out entertaining film that will also make you think and that’s the hallmark of good cinema."

Written and helmed by Hitesh Kewalya, the film is being produced by Aanand L Rai. The film hit the theatres on February 21, 2020 alongside Vicky Kaushal's Bhoot.
