Producer Ekta Kapoor has joined the long list of celebrities to join the debate on nepotism. Ekta said that apart from the star kids, outsiders who work hard and are talented should also get a chance to show their steel in the industry.

Ekta is launching two new actors in Avinash Tiwari and Tripti Dimri – in her upcoming production ‘Laila Majnu’. In the promotional events, Ekta spoke about the difficulties she faced in marketing with new faces.

Ekta took to Instagram and talked about hiring “unknown talents who have no legacy, star fathers or godfathers.”

Ayesha Shroff, mother of Tiger Shroff criticised her post by saying, “It’s not a sin to have a star father my dear! Hard work and talent is the same no matter what caste, creed or lineage!”

Ekta, the daughter of legendary actor Jeetendra, argued that it is much tougher to make a film with outsiders and market it.

“Not at all, ma’am! I have one, but you have to admit for a producer to sell market and turn around a film with newcomers is far tougher with no lineage attached ! This is no slight to any star kid least of all Tiger who is FANTASTIC! But a request to give other kids a chance too.”

During the launch event of ‘Laila Majnu’, Ekta was asked about her opinion on nepotism, which started with Kangana Ranaut criticising Karan Johar for promoting star kids.

“I don’t do it. I don’t agree that it is only film industry’s problem because there is a whole world around it,” Ekta had said.
