While it is beyond our imagination to imagine someone else rather than Malaika Arora in the iconic train-dance, ‘Chaiyaa Chaiyya’ from ‘Dil Se’, filmmaker Farah Khan then argued otherwise. Farah Khan who recently attended a session at the ongoing International Film Festival of India(IFFI) in Goa spoke about her journey as a choreographer and then as a director to which she also revealed something big about the 1998 Shah Rukh Khan and Manisha Koirala starrer.
“We couldn’t get the permission to shoot at the station, so we managed to shoot it on top of a train. We did it in four days and no one fell,”
“We had approached Shilpa (Shetty) to Raveena (Tandon), a lot of actors but no one did it. Malaika did the song and became a star after that,” the filmmaker talks about the famous dance that helped Malaika Arora become a household name.
She also went on to talk about her dislike for remakes which of course, has seen a huge climb over the recent years, “I don’t know why they are making them. It’s a call the music company has taken. They say they do very well. Obviously it makes people nostalgic. A retro song, you will always enjoy. A new song takes longer to grow.”
As for her choreography skills she recently choreographed the ‘Ankhiyon Se Goli Maare’ for the upcoming film Pati Patni Aur Woh.
