Farah Khan recently said that her upcoming project a remake of Satte Pe Satte is on the final draft phase and the casting for the movie will take place soon. The actress however refused to take any name she has in mind to reprise the role of Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini in the cult movie.
After reports of Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar being approached for the film, now fresh reports suggest that Hrithik Roshan is likely to take forward the bastion. Among the female lead, Deepika Padukone was approached to play Hema Malini's part however according to inside sources the actress has refused to be a part of a multi-starrer film.
For the last few months, it was then revealed that Farah is making a film, which will be adapted from the classic Raj N Sippy directorial Satte Pe Satta, which had Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini playing the lead roles.
A source, close to the development, revealed to Pinkvilla, "Farah has already discussed the idea with Hrithik Roshan, who has also given a verbal nod to the project. Farah has reworked the whole script and designed it to suit the contemporary times. They needed a superstar who would command the same screen presence as Big B and Duggu was their first choice. Farah and Hrithik have been friends for decades now so he immediately heard the story and okayed it. The final modalities will be worked out soon and the actor will also make an announcement right after that."
"They didn't want someone too old or too young for this movie. The hero has to look the eldest of the lot and still not too old for marriage. They wanted someone in their 40s as the role would fit them perfectly. In fact, even Amit ji was 40 when Satte Pe Satta released."
Now, the casting for the female lead, along with the other actors will be in process.
Reports also suggested that even Bharat actor Salman Khan was approached for the role.
Satte Pe Satta will be produced by Rohit Shetty and will be mounted as a massive Bollywood musical.
