The production work on the biopic of Freddie Mercury, the lead vocalist of the rock band Queen, has been stopped due to the ‘unexpected unavailability’ of director Bryan Singer.

The movie titled Bohemian Rhapsody stars Rami Malek as Mercury and shooting was underway in London, according to BBC.

"Twentieth Century Fox Film has temporarily halted production on 'Bohemian Rhapsody' due to the unexpected unavailability of Bryan Singer," the studio said in a statement.

"This is a personal health matter concerning Bryan and his family. Bryan hopes to get back to work on the film soon after the holidays," it added.

This is not the first time that Singer has taken an unexpected break. He had earlier abruptly stopped the shooting of ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ and ‘Superman Returns.’

Mercury wrote numerous hits for Queen, including ‘Bohemian Rhapsody,’ ‘Killer Queen,’ ‘Somebody to Love,’ ‘Don't Stop Me Now,’ ‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love,’ and ‘We Are the Champions.’
