Good Newwz starring Kareena Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani in lead roles is expected to have a good start at the box-office. The film is all set to hit the screens tomorrow and has already opened to rave reviews. Trade analyst Girish Johar is confident the film will open at over Rs 20 crore on day one despite Salman Khan’s Dabangg 3 running successfully at the ticket windows.
''The film has been promoted well across India. The people have liked the trailer. It is a multi-starrer with Akshay, who is already on top and brings a great variety to his work, and Kareena, who is coming after a long time and has a fan following of her own. Kiara and Diljit are also very strong. The songs are hit among the audience and it is also a solo release. Everything looks positive and it should turn out to be a good news in itself.''
Good Newwz collection will also be affected by CAA protests. On being asked if Dabangg 3 could give Good Newwz a tough competition at the movie theatres, Girish said, ''Dabangg 3 is in the market and cannot be written off. However, the first preference will be given to Good Newwz during the weekend. Dabangg 3 can be maintained in single screen theatres in regions where it is working well but Good Newwz will obviously dominate it in the coming days.''
The story of the film revolves around two married couples and their journey of love. Akshay and Kareena are seen as Mr. and Mrs. Batra, trying to conceive a baby. On the other hand, Diljit and Kiara too, who share the same surname, also plan to have a baby through IVF. And the real twist comes when Kareena’s eggs are fertilized with Diljit’s sperm and Kiara’s eggs are fertilized with Akshay’s sperm.
The film was earlier named Good Newwz but was underwent a spelling change. Producer Karan Johar had announced the name change on Akshay’s 52nd birthday in September.
