Gaining recognition even from Hollywood A-listers like Will Smith, Zoya Akhtar with Gully Boy has truly made the director a run for the money. Starting off with Luck by Chance, Zoya, has in over ten years as a filmmaker made her way to be recognized as someone beyond her time. With brilliant works like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Talaash, and her latest release Gully Boy which is proving to be a champion at the box-office, her works are received with open arms.
One of her best works, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, which focuses on the definition of how one looks at life garnered massive praises and many have even indicated that given the success the filmmaker is planning to make a sequel on ZNMD, though the filmmaker herself has never given a word for it. In her recent chat with a leading portal, when Zoya was asked about which of her movies she would like to make a sequel on, she gave a reply that will clarify things once and for all, she said, “Honestly, people want a second movie of ZNMD, but I think the best franchise would either be Luck By Chance or Dil Dhadakne Do. There are so many characters and so many streams and they are ongoing stories. So I think they would make better franchises.”
Talking about her latest release Gully Boy, starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, the movie has garnered a decent box office collection despite its release on a working Friday. Minting in Rs72.45 crore, the movie is expected to enter into a 100cr club at the box office in the first week of its theater run.
