Ranveer Singh's bent as an actor skyrocketed with the role of Khilji in Padmaavat, although that is not to say that the Gully Boy star had not acted in many incredible roles before. Taking on the challenging role of the dark, antihero, Khilji, a personification of the historic invader during the times of the Delhi Sultanate, Ranveer Singh’s impressive characterisation of Khilji sent chills down the spine among movie-goers.
Hence, it is without asking that fans would love to see the versatile actor in a similar role as Khilji. Looking forward to yet another of his interesting movie, Gully Boy, Ranveer spoke about him taking a role similar to Khilji and more. When asked if he would be willing to play a character as dark as Khilji, the actor according to Filmfare had this to say, “Probably not. Not anytime soon, not on the periphery. I can’t go back there. Touchwood, I am very blessed that right now, I am going through a very good time. I am very happy and happily married. I am being showered with love and affection from my wife. I am in a very warm and fuzzy, happy space in life.”
Ranveer added, “To be honest, when Khilji was offered to me, I was happy even then. But, I was prepared to go down that rabbit hole. Now, I am not prepared to do that again because having done that before, I know how deep and dark it is. I don’t want to do that? Not anytime soon and hopefully never. I will do this mercy on myself and not go down that path again,”.
The portrayal of a dark character must have taken a toll on the versatile actor, but we very soon hope to see Ranveer in another yet completely different character as he has always done. His much-anticipated movie, Gully Boy with Alia Bhatt hit the big screen tomorrow.
