Starting 2019 with a box office blast Simmba and now Gully Boy, Ranveer Singh looks like an actor who just exists to pull off every given character there is. With trails of box office success for roles such as the invader Khilji in Padmaavat, the love-stricken Maratha General in one of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's most gorgeous movie, Bajirao Mastani, and now the impressive aspiring rapper for Gully Boy, Ranveer Singh has truly emerged as one of the most versatile actors.
Given his hugely impressive gift of acting skills, one would find it impossible to believe that Bollywood’s goofy-boy was one rejected in a highly-successful movie ironically because of the reason which people love him for-his energy.
Before Farhan Akhtar bagged the role of Olympian Milkha Singh, Ranveer Singh was one of the few actors who had auditioned for the 2013 box office hit, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. Filmmaker Omprakash Mehra told a daily that he had three actors in his mind, one, which was Ranveer Singh after Farhan Akhtar, but had to filter out the Gully Boy star because he found him to be too ‘crazy’.

Mehra said on the sidelines of IFFI, “Farhan came as an instinctive choice. His age was wrong- Farhan was 36, Milkha was 22. But I felt out of all the auditions I had seen he was the best. There were three people who stood out- one was a new actor called Nitish, one was Ranveer Singh, who was quite crazy and then Farhan’’.
“For me, Farhan worked the best because his response was silent. I could see it in his eyes. That was it. That was enough for me’’ he added.
Well, Ranveer could have proven Mehra wrong, who knows? Did you also know that Uri star, Vicky Kaushal, who was then a fresh-bee was one among those who auctioned for the role?
