Gully Boy box office day 2: Zoya Akhtar's Ranveer Singh-Alia Bhatt starrer mints Rs 32.50 crore

Opening with Rs 18.70 crore at the box office, the Zoya Akhtar directorial Gully Boy, has in just over a day’s time collected Rs 32.50 Crore. The Ranveer Singh-Alia Bhatt starrer which was released on Valentine’s Day is expected to witness an upward trend over the weekend. The success at the box office will be the second highest opening for Ranveer after Simmba while for Alia Bhatt, it will be the highest ever.

Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh, who shared the box office figures of the film tweeted, “GullyBoy dips in metros and mass circuits/Tier-2 cities on Day 2... Day 3 and Day 4 should witness substantial growth at metros ... Strong *extended* weekend on cards... Thu 19.40 cr, Fri 13.10 cr. Total: Rs 32.50 cr. India biz.”

The movie which showed a 30 per cent drop due to a working Friday is expected to improve during the weekend.

Inspired by aspiring slum rappers, Gully Boy directed by Zoya Akhtar have seen waves of positive reviews from moviegoers who have even praised the director by calling her as one ahead of her times.

Starring Ranveer Singh as the street rapper, Gully Boy stars Alia Bhatt as his love interest bringing to the screen the fresh chemistry of the duo. The film also stars Siddhant Chaturvedi and Kalki Koechlin in pivotal roles.
