Director Hansal Mehta today revealed that he has quit smoking for good after struggling with the habit for 23 years.
The 49-year-old filmmaker took to Twitter and said that it has been a month that he has steered clear of cigarettes after falling "terribly ill".
"I've struggled with cigarette smoking and wanting to quit for nearly 23 years... Last month I was terribly ill. I quit smoking. I had to if I wanted to live," Mehta wrote.
He said one must not wait for their condition to worsen and give up smoking in the first place.
"Don't wait to fall ill. Just quit the habit. Kick the butt. STOP SMOKING," the director added.
On the work front, Hansal Mehta is set to make his directorial debut on the digital platform with The Scam, based on India's biggest securities scams of 1992.Â
The web series, produced by Applause Entertainment, is based on the book of the same name by Sucheta Dalal and Debashish Basu.
