Amitabh Bachchan's father Harivansh Rai Bachchan needs no introduction, his writings remain etched in the readers' heart forever. He was an Indian poet of the Nayi Kavita literary movement of the early 20th century. He is best known for his early work Madhushala. In 1976, he received the Padma Bhushan for his service to Hindi literature. He was also the second Indian to get his doctorate in English literature from Cambridge University. Also, he has been associated with the evolution of Hindi as the official language. Bachchan was fluent in several Hindustani dialects such as Awadhi, Hindi, Urdu and Persian.
