Kareena Kapoor Khan likes to keep her personal private. On rare occassions had she opened up about her relationship with Saif Ali Khan although she loves talking about her son Taimur at chat shows.
Talking to Humans of Bombay, the actress has let out much about ups and down in her career in Bollywood spanning 19 years now. But the 38-year-old actress recently revealed that there came a time when she thought her career was over as she was asked to reinvent herself. But that's when Saif Ali Khan entered her life, and it changed forever.
"It started out great - I did amazing films. But then for a year I didn't work. I felt like my career was over; I was told to 're-invent', become size 0. Everyone goes through a lull in their career. But as an actor, it's worse. So just when I thought I was falling, Saif caught me. I'd met him before, but while we were filming Tashan, something changed. I wore my heart on my sleeve! He was so charming; I fell for him hook, line and sinker," said Kareena.
She added that they bonded well on the sets of Tashan and that was the beginning of a beautiful love story. "I remember while shooting in Ladakh and Jaisalmer, we'd go on long bike rides for some alone time. We'd enjoy the beauty, have great conversations and just bond. He helped me heal and love myself.Â
Talking about the qualities that attracted her to him she said, "Maybe it was the fact that we're so different he's more private and not 'Bollywoodised', but I imbibed that from him. I learnt to balance things and not let them get to me,"Â
She further stated that after dating for a while, they decided to move in together. The decision was easily accepted by Kareena's mom.
"We'd been dating for a while, when he [Saif] said he's not 25 and can't keep dropping me home every night. So he told my mom, 'I want to spend the rest of my life with her. We want to live together.' My mom was cool with it. It's so easy with him. Even when we decided to get married, it felt right," added the actress.
