Dream Girl, featuring Ayushmann Khurrana and Nushrat Bharucha in lead roles, is continuing its dream run at the box-office. However, the film has been facing some legal trouble as the song Dhagala Lagli Kala, a remix of a popular Marathi song from Dada Kondke's film, has been removed from all the digital platforms because it violates copyright issues.
Earlier the Delhi High Court had put restrictions on the makers of the song that they cannot use any part of the original song from Dada Kondke’s film Bot Lavin Tithe Gudgulya. The orders came after Saregama India who own the rights to the song had filed the petition. Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw has given the verdict and therefore the song has been removed from all the digital platforms. The song is still available in pirated versions.
Since it was a promotional song and not a part of the movie, the movie remains unaffected as far as its theatre run is concerned. The song also featured Riteish Deshmukh.
Takling about the film, Ayushmann essays the role of a young man who has a credible talent of imitating female voice and plays female characters in Ramleela. He gets a job in an adult hotline, but things go haywire when customers, both men and women, fall for his alter ego 'Pooja' and start searching for the face behind the sultry voice.
Praising Ayushmann for his performance, producer Ekta Kapoor recently said, ''Ayushmann Khurrana is a truly versatile actor who can pull off any role with elan and ease. We are thrilled with the responses coming in for ‘Dream Girl’ from across the globe.''
Apart from Ayushmann and Nushrat, the film also stars Annu Kapoor, Manjot Singh, Nidhi Bisht, Vijay Raaz and others.
