Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period drama has been in controversy since its inception. The movie features Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles.
Currently, the release of the film is hanging in the middle of Censor Board Certification and Rajput community across the nation.
Rajput community alleges director Sanjay Leela Bhansali for distorting facts about Rani Padmini in the film.
Sanjay even clarified several times that the movie doesn’t contain any dream sequence between Alauddin Khilji and Rani Padmavati. He even released a video recently urging for release of the film.
After a long silence over the controversy, Deepika Padukone who is playing the role of Padmavati said, "The only people we are answerable to is the censor board, and I know and I believe that nothing can stop the release of this film’’.
Recently, reports were also making rounds that CBFC Chief Prasoon Joshi has seen the film and found nothing objectionable in it.
Prasoon Joshi said, "The speculative reports a few publications are carrying about I having watched Padmavati are absolutely baseless and untrue. I have not watched the film, not expressed any views regarding it. The film will follow the due process at CBFC’’.
The 46-year old lyricist also said "The film will follow the due process at CBFC (The Central Board of Film Certification)".
The movie is slated to be released on December 1.
