Unable to understand why Deepika Padukone got applauded with a special award for her role in the Shah Rukh Khan starrer, netizens bombarded the social medial handles with funny memes.

One Twitter user wrote, “We had so many amazing movies to pick best actress from in last 20 years and all you had to do is give it to Deepika for Chennai Express. Seriously? Deepika had acted so well in other amazing movies if you had to give it to her only.”

While Deepika was also nominated for the Best Actor (Female) category for her last film Padmaavat, she, lost it to Alia Bhatt’s Raazi that was loved by many. On the other hand, Deepika's husband Ranveer did bag the Best Actor (Male) award for his performance in Padmaavat. Even the starlet’s co-star from Padmaavat, Aditi Rao Hydari won the Best Supporting Actor (Female) title for her performance in the film, which was released back in 2018. Vicky Kaushal meanwhile took home the Best Actor in Supporting role trophy for Raj Kumar Hirani's Sanju.
