B-town is all set to witness one of the biggest award shows in New York - the 18th International Indian Film Academy Awards on July 14, which will be a three day gala affair. This 18th edition of this prestigious ceremony, which will be attended by B-town's A-listers, is coming with several surprise elements for the audience - from new hosts to stunning performance and much more.
So as the stage is set for this extravangaza, we bring you all the details about IIFA awards 2017.
Venue: The 18th edition of IIFA awards 2017 will be held at the iconic MetLife Stadium in New York from July 14-16. "The special treat from IIFA this year is New York. Bollywood will take centre stage in the most significant city of the world. Not only are we going at Times Square for IIFA stomp but we will also ring the bell at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) to commence the celebration," Sabbas Joseph, Founder, Director of IIFA, told PTI.
Hosts: This year the prestigious award ceremony will be hosted by Saif Ali Khan and Karan Johar. "This year it's going to be super fun and glamorous in every way as Karan and I are going to have lots of surprises in store for our fans internationally," said Saif in a statement. This is not all. The green carpet will be hosted by Karan Wahi and Arjun Bijlani.
AR Rahman's 25 years celebration: IIFA will be celebrating the 25 years journey of musical maestro AR Rahman in Bollywood during a special show IIFA Rocks 2017 which will be held on July 14. This special show will feature a special medley by Rahman along with singers like Diljit Dosanjh, Benny Dayal, Javed Ali, Neeti Mohan, Jonita Gandhi and Haricharan Seshadri.
Performances: The IIFA awards this year will witness some breath-taking performances by Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt, Shahid Kapoor and Sushant Singh Rajput etc. "I'm really excited and looking forward to performing at the IIFA Awards this year. It is such a great platform that not only showcases the celebration of cinema globally but also it's a great opportunity for us to reach out to our fans worldwide. I am excited that this year, it is happening in one of my favourite cities - New York!," said Katrina.
A special tribute to David Dhawan: Young actor Varun Dhawan will be making his debut at IIFA this year and he is coming up with a bang. The 'Badrinath Ki Dulhania' actor will be giving a special tribute to his father David Dhawan through a dance performance on his popular songs. Besides, Varun will also launch the remake of Salman Khan's popular song 'Oonchi Hai Building' during the 18th edition of IIFA awards. The song will be featured in his upcoming movie 'Judwaa 2'
