It has been Aamir Khan’s scorn towards award shows which kept Dangal out of the IIFA Award. For the 18th edition of the International Indian Film Academy nominations was announced in May, the makers of Dangal did not send entry for any category.
Director of Wizcraft International Andre Timmins said, “We would love Dangal to be a part of it. I think it’s a movie that’s broken all records. We love Aamir Khan and the two little girls. They did a great job. But unfortunately, they didn’t send their entry in. We feel sad’’. He further added, “So basically, in IIFA, forms are sent to various production houses. They fill those forms up and send it back to us. Those forms are then put out to the industry for voting and from there it becomes a nomination’’.
Aamir Khan’s highly successful sports drama created numerous records at the box office in India and overseas, especially in China. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the flick is a biopic on Mahavir Phogat and his two daughters – Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari.
