'Jagga Jasoos' debacle: Govinda thanks Rishi Kapoor for showing concern

Govinda has come out in support of veteran actor Rishi Kapoor who recently lashed out at filmmaker Anurag Basu blaming him debacle of Ranbir Kapoor-Katrina Kaif starrer 'Jagga Jasoos'. The senior actor, who was said to be a part of 'Jagga Jasoos', thanked Rishi for showing concern towards his ousting from the movie. "I want to say, 'Thank you Rishi sir. At last you showed concern. Good blood never speaks wrong'," Govinda told Bombay Times.

Notably, Govinda was supposed to be doing a cameo in 'Jagga Jasoos' and has even shot for his role in South Africa. However, his role was later edited from the movie and Basu clarified that Govinda was no more a part of the story due to technical changes in the script of 'Jagga Jasoos'.

Talking about the same, Govinda asserted, "I didn't react much because I have huge respect for the Kapoor family. Also, I truly feel that it's the director's (Anurag) call to do what he wants to do with his film, but a little professionalism is expected. I had no clue what they were up to. They were busy with their own things and I wasn't even informed about it (his ouster from the film). This, despite me doing the film without even charging for it. I was unwell and on drips, but I still travelled to South Africa for the shoot as I didn't want people to feel that I am unprofessional or making excuses. After doing all that, what I got in return has made me realise that I need to be more frank from now on. I shouldn't be sensitive or emotional when it comes to work. I should make changes in myself as this is how the world functions."

"If I had said something, it would have been perceived as a complaint. They did what they thought was right and I didn't want to interfere. I am not here to fight. If Anurag offers me a film again, I might still do it as we all are professionals," Govinda added.

Interestingly, Govinda's statement came after Rishi Kapoor lashed out at Anurag Basu for his 'irresponsible' approach towards 'Jagga Jasoos'.

During a public interview, Risha has stated, ""I didn't hate or love the film. I only felt it needed to be abridged by 20 minutes. But who is going to give that opinion to them? He's such an irresponsible director that he doesn't complete the film. It was supposed to release three times in the past two years, but it kept getting delayed."

"You even threw Govinda out of the film. If you don't want Govinda to work in your film, why did you ask him in the first place? Iss sab mein Ranbir ka naam toh kharaab hoga, aur kya? Mera kharaab hoga!( All these acts will defame Ranbir's and my name in the industry)," Rishi was quoted further while talking about the same.

We wonder, what Anurag Basu has to say in defense now.
