'Jagga Jasoos' first day collection: This is how much Ranbir Kapoor-Katrina Kaif starrer earned on its day of release

New Delhi:

Ranbir Kapoor's recent release 'Jagga Jasoos' opposite Katrina Kaif has got an average start on its day of release and made a collection of Rs 8.57 crore. The Anurag Basu directorial, which has released after a gap of three years, became the talk of the town after its lead pair Ranbir-Katrina parted ways. However, despite the extensive promotions and publicity, the movie opened to a slow start and witnessed 25-30% occupancy in morning shows.

Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh took it to micro-blogging site Twitter to share the first day collection of 'Jagga Jasoos' and wrote, “#JaggaJasoos Fri ₹ 8.57 cr. India biz”.

Interestingly, 'Jagga Jasoos' has surpassed the first day collection of superstar Akshay Kumar's last release 'Naam Shabana' featuring Taapsee Pannu in the lead. The much talked about prequel of Akshay's 2015 release 'Baby', Naam Shabana had minted Rs 5.12 crore on its days of release.

According to the media reports, 'Jagga Jasoos', which was released on 1800 screens across the country, has garnered mixed reactions from the audience so far.

Given that Anurag and Ranbir's collaboration has given a hit like 'Barfi', it is quite obvious that 'Jagga Jasoos' will be compared with it and the audience will have similar expectations from the movie.

However, going by the reviews it has got, 'Jagga Jasoos' will have to get a hike in collection during weekend to recover its cost of production of Rs 110 crore.

Talking about the movie, 'Jagga Jasoos' revolves around a young boy Jagga (played by Ranbir Kapoor) who is in a quest to find his missing foster father and seeks help from journalist Shruti Sengupta (played by Katrina Kaif).
