After nearly a year, Janhvi Kapoor says that the sudden death of her mother Sridevi still leaves her shocked. The 21-year-old lost her mother Sridevi while the nation a veteran actor this February. Sridevi’s sudden death happened when the young actor was making her first step into Bollywood with Dhadak. At the launch of Dhadak, Janhvi had said, "I saw Sairat with mom at home and I remember telling her 'I wish that this was my first film and I could do something like it'.
Although Sridevi’s death happened at the pivotal shooting of Janhvi’s first movie, the young actor said she didn’t let her spirit down and returned to work on her film Dhadak, in a week. Her film released in July and did a good-gathering at the box office. In several interviews, the 21-year-old has said that how working on the film Dhadak, saved her.

At the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, Janhvi spoke about how 2018 turned out for her and that she would never be able to match up to her mother's calibre.
"It's harder to say anything. When I say 'growth', I mean personal growth, I don't know about artistic. This year brought me both the worst and the best experience of my life. It's a little strange.

"Our family is now united, so that is very big thing for me. But, whatever happened was too heavy. We are still in shock, so we haven't been able to process it properly. I'm really thankful for all the love that we have received and I got a chance to work, which is a big thing for more. I got a chance to make my parents proud, which is important for me," said Janhvi, who was attending the festival with her father Boney.
Janhvi Kapoor will be seen next in Karan Johar directed movie, Takht and will be seen alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Anil Kapoor, among others.
