Sonu Nigam azaan row: Javed Akhtar says prayers shouldn't disturb anyone

Javed Akhtar has voiced his opinions in support of Sonu Nigam over the much hyped azaan controversy and said prayers should not disturb anyone. He asserted, "I think be it a masjid, mandir, church or gurudwara, whatever is the place, do your prayers, but it shouldn't disturb anyone else."

Akhtar's reaction came after Sonu sparked a controversy after he said, in a series of tweets, that shrines should not wake people up by using loudspeakers and demanded an end to such "forced religiousness". The singer faced sever backlash from the Muslim community over his tweets and as a result Sonu Nigam even ended up shaving his head.

Interestingly, Javed Akhtar is not the only one to back Sonu Nigam Even Raveena Tandon too expressed her views saying, "If we look at the current scenario of our country — whether you look at people of any religion — fanaticism is wrong. We have always lived in a secular and strong country and we should be allowed to do so. If Diwali firecrackers are being controlled, I promote that. But it doesn’t mean I am becoming communal. It depends on each person’s individual thinking what they think and what they find.”

Besides, Kangana Ranaut, Sunil Grover and Randeep Hooda too had voice similar views. We wonder, if this controversy will subside anytime soon.
