Veteran actor Jeetendra, whose cousin Nitin Kapoor allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday, has stated that the deceased was avoiding him for a while now.
It was reported that former producer Nitin Kapoor ended his life after jumping off his six-floor building.
Disturbed by the incident, Jeetendra stated that Nitin was a father figure from him. However, he was not meeting him for a couple of days.
The veteran actor who was out of town, got to know about Nitin's death after he landed in Delhi.
"He was my first cousin. I had not met him for a long time. I don’t know why he was not meeting me. He was avoiding me. His father was really close to me. He was like a father for me. I was away for a meeting. It was when my flight landed at around 8.40 pm that I came to know about this. I am in Delhi and am depressed to learn about this,” Jeetendra told a leading daily.
While the Kapoor family is in a state of shock, it is being reported that Nitin committed suicide owing to his financial crisis.
"He has been jobless for the past 18 years and was facing the acute financial crisis. He had left his Hyderabad home, where he used to reside with his actress-wife Jayasudha, and came to stay with his sister a few months ago. He did not like to stay there or take any help from his relatives, but he had no other option," a close relative reportedly told an entertainment portal.
According to the police, prima-facie the case seems to be a suicide, however, the investigation team is investigating every angle of the case.
