John Abraham starrer Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran has been making waves ever since the project was announced by the makers. The film which was originally slated to release on December 8, 2017 will now hit the silver screens on May 4.
The much-awaited film is said to be based on the nuclear bomb test explosions which were conducted by India in 1998 at Pokhran.
The Abhishek Verma directorial which also features Diana Penty and Boman Irani in key roles is produced by John's production house, JA Entertainment.
The flick was supposed to be jointly produced by JA Entertainment and KriAj Entertainment but the two companies had a fallout. John’s production house had alleged that late payments from KriAj Entertainment led to delays in the post-production work.

Talking about the film’s release on May 4, a JA Entertainment spokesperson said that Parmanu would be released in the same month as India celebrates its 20 years of Operation Shakti.
"Much in line with India's journey to becoming a nuclear power, our film's journey to its release has also had its own ups and downs. However, it is perhaps a befitting tribute to the true heroes of our nuclear program- our army and our scientists, that Parmanu is releasing in the same month as we celebrate 20 years of Operation Shakti- India's nuclear test explosions in Pokhran in May 1998’’, a press release issued by JA Entertainment read.
Parmanu will now clash with another highly-anticipated film 102 Not Out at the box office. The ageless comedy stars veteran actors Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor in lead roles.
