Kabir Singh is the highest grossing solo film of Shahid Kapoor’s career. On the day of its release, the film raked in a staggering Rs. 22.71 crore. While the film is continuing to create magic at the box-office, many criticised it for being "misogynistic" and "patriarchal.''
Talking about his role in the film, Shahid had told PTI in an interview, "Nobody else had the guts to play these characters. Maybe because I am my father's (Pankaj Kapur) son, I felt the need to play such flawed characters.''
Besides Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani, Kabir Singh also stars Arjan Bajwa, Suresh Oberoi, Kamini Kaushal, Adil Hussain, Nikita Dutta and Soham Majum among others. The film is a Hindi remake of the 2017 Telugu hit film Arjun Reddy, which starred Vijay Deverakonda and Shalin Pandey in the lead roles.
