Kalank: Madhuri Dixit begins shooting with Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt

Madhuri Dixit, who created a buzz after she replaced late actress Sridevi in Karan Johar's Kalank, has finally begun shooting for the movie.

The senior actress will be joined the sets with lead actors Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt.

Talking about the same, Madhuri told DNA, "I am excited to start the shoot for Kalank today. It's my second association with Karan Johar after Bucket List, which is being presented by him. It's been a lovely journey so far. I can't wait to begin this one".

Interestingly, it's been a while when Karan Johar announced the much-awaited movie with its first poster on micro-blogging site Twitter.

Besides, Varun Dhawan also shared pictures from the sets of Kalank which is set against the backdrop of partition.

"Karan got Amrita Mahal Nakai to work on the set's design and structure. They have created an old Delhi mohalla with a mahal, where filming is currently on. Kalank is set against the backdrop of the Partition. Since it's based in the 1940s, the set has been designed keeping that particular period in mind," a source reportedly told DNA.

Apart from Madhuri, Varun and Alia, Kalank also stars Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur. The movie will hit the screens on April 19 next year.
