The much-awaited trailer of Kalank starring Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Madhuri Dixit and Aditya Roy Kapur in prominent roles is finally here. In this highly-awaited period drama, Varun Dhawan plays Zafar, while Alia plays the innocent Roop. Aditya Roy Kapur plays Dev, while Sonakshi will portray Satya. Sanjay Dutt plays Balraj in the movie and Madhuri will be seen portraying the role of Bahar Begum.
This period tale set in the 1940s India has definitely got the mood right. The trailer hints at an epic love story between Alia Bhatt and Varun. The film also marks the reunion of rumoured exes Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit after 21 years. Kalank is not only Karan Johar's most expensive film, but also his most unusual love story.
Before unveiling the trailer, the makers released three songs including Ghar More Pardesiya and the peppy track, First Class, shot on Varun and Kiara Advani, and Kalank's title track.
The film, written and directed by Abhishek Varman, is a joint production venture between Dharma Productions, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and Fox Star Studios. The film will hit the screens on April 17.
