Kangana Ranaut, who has always been the controversy's favourite child, has invited herself a fresh legal trouble after a renowned filmmaker filed a cheating case against her. Reportedly, the case was filed with Mumbai's Economic Offences Wing (EOW) regarding her upcoming movie 'Manikarnika' wherein she will be essaying the role of Rani Laxmibai.
According to the media reports, renowned filmmaker Ketan Mehta had accused the 'Queen' actress of cheating him saying that Kangana was earlier roped in to play Rani Laxmibai in his dream project 'Rani of Jhansi: The Warrior Queen'.

However, Kangana later reportedly walked out of the movie and later announced 'Mannikarnika' with another director. Mehtra has alleged that this action by Kangana has incured him a loss of Rs 9 crore regarding his project for which he had invested around 10 years.
The media reports suggest that Mehta had also sent a legal notice to Ranaut three weeks back.
"We have received the letter. We will investigate the case, and if the allegations are true we will register a case in this regard," said DCP Parag Manere, EOW was quoted as saying.
Indeed, this has sparked a fresh controversy for Kangana Ranaut and her movie 'Manikarnika', however, her lawyer Rizwan Siddique has reportedly refused to comment on the issue.
On the work front, Kangana Ranaut will be next seen in Hansal Mehta's upcoming directorial 'Simran', which will hit the screens on September 15.
