Kangana Ranaut, known staunchly both for her flairs in the silver screen and for stirring controversy is at it again with a shocker of a claim. And this time, it is surrounding the Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s blockbuster and controversial movie, Padmaavat. The movie, based on the Queen Padmavati or Padmini which Deepika Padukone so graciously portrayed was also her hardest role as Deepika herself said in the Vogue interview. True to her labour and hard work, her effort truly paid off garnering massive praises from movie-goers even to the fact that the role of the queen was in itself was seen as a role destined to be plucked by Deepika herself.
Kangana in her latest interview with a daily will challenge your notion otherwise for the destined roles in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie. While sitting down with Mid-Day, the Manikarnika actor opened up to some interesting insights about the Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie. When asked if she was offered the project, Kangana said, "Yes. There was this conversation and I was doing Manikarnika then, so it didn't go anywhere. But we had a brief narration." It, however, remains unclear if she was offered Deepika or Aditi Rao Hydari's role in the historical drama.
And that there was another shocker from the Queen actor herself! Kangana also spoke about the whole machine-horse talk that created quite a stir on the internet. “I was harrowed with the whole Manikarnika experience. My director abandoned the project. All this came on to me with such a force. When the film finally came out, people loved it. But there was so much negativity from the backlog that came with it. I thrive on my confidence. I don’t know how to function without it. It’s the fuel of my personality.”
“These people were bullying me. Did you see the horse episode? This is mockery. A girl has pulled off these stunts for the first time. And there is this whole system working against it openly? I felt like it was scarring me,” the actor added.
