Kangana Ranaut recently shot for a Bharatnatyam sequence in her upcoming film Thalaivi. Kangana looks gorgeous in her traditional attire and also met her close friend Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari during short breaks. Revealing how she can associate herself with the actress turned once Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Jayalalitha, Kangana said that she too once longed for a family like her character.

Kangana went on to say that Jayalalitha was a glamorous actress like Aishwarya Rai is in Bollywood.  She however is a different kind of actress who is not much close t glamour and hence it was quite a task for her to associate with Jayalalitha’s journey in stardom. Talking about the similarities they have had, Kangana told Hindu, “I do feel that there are similarities. She was a very reluctant actor. It is the same with me. I never wanted to be an actor, and that is why we became very unusual actors. I think she always felt that she was worth much more than just being a glam doll , and she became a politician. Like how I became a filmmaker because I felt that being an actress was very limiting for me. So, I think there are parallels,”

There is one aspect, she thinks, which goes beyond being just a parallel in their lives. “I think, like every woman, she (Jayalalithaa) longed for a family, and she longed for a child. I think there was a time in my life also when I longed for a family. I think some of the married people took advantage of that... especially married actors... I will not reveal whom. There are scenes with an actor who is married, and who promises marriage and then goes back on his word. She has to face a lot of public humiliation. I think this is what happens to a lot of the young actresses. It is not something that only we share,” she says.

Talking about her experience in shooting the film, Kangana calling her a ‘director’s actor said that she is a completely involved person on the sets as she makes herself available to the director. “Most actors, they need to be brought out of the van, but I’m not that.” notes the actor.

Thalaivi will be directed by AL Vijay who mostly works for the Tamil film industry and is known for directing movies like Madrasapattinam and Deiva Thirumagal.  The screenplay will be done by KV Vijayendra Prasad of Baahubali fame.
