Kangana Ranaut took the silver screen with a storm with her recent release Simran. The Hansal Mehta directorial was one of the much talked about movie of the year.
Simran revolves around the story of a US based Gujrati housekeeping girl who is a kleptomaniac, a gambler, an alcholic and a divorcee. But this doesn't stop her from being ambitious.
With an A-lister like Kangana Ranaut collaborating with Hansal Mehta, indeed, there have been high expectations from Simran. Besides, the controversies surrounding Simran and Kangana too expected to do wonder for Simran's box office collections.
However, while the movie opened to rave reviews from the audience especially for Kangana, Simran managed to do an average business at the box office on first day.
According to the media reports, the Kangana Ranaut starrer is expected to make Rs 2-2.5 crore on its day of release.
In a report publised in Pinkvilla, Bollywood trade analyst Akshaye Rathi stated, "Simran will not open big at the box office. The collections will be between Rs 2-2.5 crore on the opening day. The movie has been made with a limited budget and will rely on word of mouth to grow its box office collections."
Rathi further asserted that Simran won't be a flop at the box office and will manage to do a decent business.
"Simran is releasing only in 850 to 900 screens. It has not gone overboard with its marketing and promotions budget. If you consider these aspects and the positive word of mouth, Simran will make a decent buck," Akshaye added.
Interestingly, Kangana Ranaut's Simran witnessed a box office clash with Farhan Akhtar's Lucknow Central which has opened to an average response.
We wonder, if Simran will be able to beat Farhan-starrer at the box office.
