Kangana Ranaut’s sister Rangoli Chandel lashed out at the Thane Police on Wednesday for allegedly involving her sister in the Call Drop Records (CDR) case, which involved the high-profile lawyer Rizwan Siddiqui.
The Thane Police had named Kangana in the case after it came into limelight that Ranaut had sent Hrithik Roshan’s mobile number to the accused Rizwan Siddiqui. Thane Crime Branch DCP Abhishek Trimukhe told a leading daily, “We found an SMS in Siddiqui's mobile phone sent by Kangana Ranaut and in that she had mentioned his (Hrithik Roshan's) name and his cell number. We had sought details of the number from service provider whether CDR of the number was pulled out or not. We will wait for the details and if CDR has been illegally procured we will probe further.”
Hours after the crime branch head made his statement, Kangana denied the claim completely. As per reports, she also lashed out at Trimukhe and accused him of defaming an artiste with baseless allegations and on assumptions rather than getting to depth of the investigation.
On Wednesday, the ‘Queen’ actress’ sister Rangoli too, lashed out at the Thane Police for falsely accusing her sister in the case and defaming her. Rangoli tweeted, “When we respond to a notice,we give all details to lawyer. To assume that these details were used to violate law & make statements based on that assumption, & defame an artist is super lame @abtrimukhe. Full investigation should be carried out before making assumptions.”

Earlier, the Thane Police had cropped up Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s name after it was alleged that Siddiqui was spying on his wife by providing her call details to the lawyer. However, the police later gave a statement that Nawazuddin had no direct role and that he ws summoned just as a witness.
Thane Police commissioner Parambhir Singh said, “Nawazuddin Siddiqui has no direct role in the Call Data Record (CDR) case. He was summoned as a witness and has assured cooperation.”

After cropping up Kangana Ranaut’s name, the Thane Police had also named Jackie Shroff’s wife Ayesha Shroff’s name in the case. It was said that Shroff produced Bollywood actor Sahil Khan’s number to Rizwan Siddiqui.
Trimukhe said, “Probe found that Ayesha Shroff procured CDR of Sahil Khan and shared it with Rizwan, this was revealed in an analysis of Rizwan's mobile.”
The CDR case revolves around a racket of private detectives who were selling illegally obtained CDRs to lawyers and other influential people. The Thane Police has arrested 12 people in connection with the case so far.
