Kangana Ranaut, who is no stranger to voicing out her thoughts is at it again! After ousting Alia Bhatt in Gully Boy for her role in Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi, winning Best Actress for 2019 in a poll conducted by Bollywood Life, Kangana who had previously also taken a dig at Alia Bhatt said that she was "embarrassed" that her name was in competition with Alia as her performance in Gully Boy was "mediocre."
Alia Bhatt’s role as Safeena in Zoya Akhtar’s critically-acclaimed Gully Boy failed to find a fan in Ranaut, who thought it was a ‘mediocre’ performance.
“I am embarrassed...What is there to beat in Gully Boy performance ....same snappy muh phat girl...” Kangana told Bollywood Life.
“(It’s just) Bollywood’s idea of a fiery girl, woman empowerment and good acting, spare me this embarrassment, please. Media has taken filmy kids love too far...stop pampering mediocre work or else bar will never be raised’’ she further added.
Kangana Ranaut in earlier interviews had also called out Alia Bhatt for not coming out in support of her film Manikarnika – The Queen of Jhansi taking a dig at the Raazi star for not expressing her political views.
“I suggested that she (Alia) grows some spine and supports an important film about woman empowerment and nationalism...if she doesn’t have a voice of her own and her existence is all about being KJo’s puppet then I don’t consider her successful’’ Kangana had then added.
Kangana Ranaut will next be featuring in the wacky film Mental Hai Kya. She had also earlier showed interest in focusing on direction and making her own biopic. Alia Bhatt, meanwhile is gearing up for the release of Kalank which releases this April 17.
