Kangana Ranaut has an interesting take on every Bollywood celeb making controversial statements or move in the public forum. After demanding an apology from Deepika over her TikTok feat, the ‘Panga’ actress lashed out at Saif Ali Khan for his ‘concept of India’ comment that drew him much flak from netizens. Kangana said people are following ‘smaller narratives’ that they have created to suit themselves.
In an interview with film critic Anupama Chopra, Saif talking about the claims of historical discrepancies in his latest film Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior said, “I don’t think this is history. I don’t think there was a concept of India till the British gave it one.”

When your student gives a duffer answer but teacher gives full marks. No wonder this stupid Film Critic refused to review #TheTashkentFiles and now is unhappy with the success of @ajaydevgn’s #Tanhaji pic.twitter.com/QmoYh2lQfK— Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri (@vivekagnihotri) January 19, 2020
Kangana was asked to comment on the same during an interview with Zee News when she said the existence of the epic Mahabharata proves that a united India existed before the British colonised the country. “This is not true. If there was no Bharat then what was Mahabharat? That 5,000-year-old text that was written, what was it? What did Ved Vyas write? Some people have just created these narratives that suit them. Sri Krishna was in Mahabharat. So there was a Bharat, that’s why it was mahaan (great). All the kings of India came together to fight that war. There was a collective identity even then called 'Bharat'." She further continues, "Now they say, that the territories should be different and should be split. But the division in three that happened then, people are still suffering from that,” she added.
Explaining more about India’s identity in the ancient times, Kangana elaborated “You see even Europe has these small nations. But these had a collective identity, that’s why Sri Krishna went to all these places with Pandavas and the Kauravas, to ask them who will be a part of the war,”
Kangana’s sister Rangoli Chandel shared the video on Twitter and wrote, “Kangana asking Saif Ali Khan a very important question ... over to you Saif.”

Previously, Kangana and Saif got involved in a controversy when in IIFA 2017, Saif Ali Khan, ganged up with Varun Dhawan and Karan Johar and made fun of Kangana Ranaut’s nepotism statements. In an open letter, Saif wrote that he had “apologised” to her, and he doesn’t “owe anybody else an explanation.”
