If Saif Ali Khan is right, I would be a farmer: Kangana Ranaut in her open letter to Pataudi King

Saif Ali Khan and Karan Johar have been hitting headlines ever since the two have hosted the IIFA 2017, one of the prestigious gala events of Bollywood. While the 'nepotism rocks' joke started off a fresh controversy, latest media report suggests that the Pataudi King is hit back by his 'Rangoon' co-star Kangana Saturday on Mid Day after he wrote an open letter to her explaining how they are all caught in a viscous cycle and it is wrong to point fingers at just a few.

The debate got a kick start at IIFA Awards this year, when Varun came on stage to receive an award. Saif mocked at Varun saying, "You are here because of your papa (director David Dhawan)." Varun replied, "And you're here because of your mummy (veteran actress Sharmila Tagore)." Karan joined both the actor and stated, "I am here because of my papa (late filmmaker Yash Johar)."

The trio chanted simultaneously, "Nepotism rocks" followed by the song "Bole Chudiye Bole Kangana", after which Karan added, "Kangana nahi bole toh achcha hai, bahut bolti hai."

Though both KJO and Dhawan son ended the matter after apologising to Kangana, Saif took a step forward by writing an open letter to her which forced the 'Queen' actress to break her prolonged silence on the matter.

The diva penned her own open letter and wrote, last time she was equally upset after Karan Johar ignored the importance of talent to make a debut in the industry. Giving examples of several legends like Dilip Kumar, Satyajit Roy and Guru Dutt, Kangana described KJO's comment as "absolutely bizarre" and further stated that "genuine hard work" exists, "beyond the superficiality of branded clothes and polished accents."

Further Kangana rubbished Saif's statement in his letter that people should "take a chill pill and back off" because he has already apologised to her. "This is not my issue alone," Kangana wrote.

Nepotism "fails the test of objectivity and rationale." She added.

Swami Vivekananda, Albert Einstein and William Shakespeare "didn't belong to a select few, they belonged to collective humanity," she wrote further.

Addresing Saif's remark on Nepotism and genetics Kangana wrote, "I fail to understand how you can compare genetically hybrid racehorses to artistes" asking him if Saif believed that talent and dedication was only hereditary. "If your point was true, I would be a farmer back home," she added.

"You also spoke of eugenics - which means controlled breeding of the human race. So far, I believe that the human race hasn't found the DNA that can pass on greatness and excellence. If it had, we would've loved to repeat the greatness of Einstein, Da Vinci, Shakespeare, Vivekananda, Stephen Hawking, Terence Tao, Daniel Day-Lewis, or Gerhard Richter," the actress wrote.

"You also said that the media is to be blamed, since it is the real flag-bearer of nepotism. That makes it sound like a crime, which is far from the truth. Nepotism is merely a weakness of the human nature; it takes great deal of will-power and strength to rise above our intrinsic nature — sometimes we excel, sometimes we don’t. No one is putting a gun to anyone’s head to hire talent they don’t believe in. So, there is no need to get defensive about one’s choices."

"You are absolutely right — there is a lot of excitement and admiration for the lives of the rich and famous. But at the same time, our creative industry gets this love from our countrymen, because we are like a mirror to them — whether it’s Langda Tyagi from Omkara, or Rani from Queen, we are loved for the extraordinary portrayal of the ordinary."

"In fact, the subtext of all my talk on this subject has been to encourage outsiders to take the path less travelled. Bullying, jealousy, nepotism and territorial human tendencies are all part of the entertainment industry, much like any other. If you don’t find acceptance in the mainstream, go off beat — there are so many ways of doing the same thing," she added in her letter.

While the nepotism continues to create all new buzzes one after another, Saif is reportedly miffed with Johar for stealing his on stage time during IIFA. Chances are also high that the cold war between the two may further make the matter worse.
