Karan Johar pays MINDBOGGLING sum for Hindi rights of Vijay Deverakonda's 'Dear Comrade': Reports

Karan Johar, who tasted massive success with his association with ‘Baahubali’ movies, is looking to repeat the feat. This time, the man with many talents has zeroed in on Vijay Deverakonda’s ‘Dear Comrade. Fans across the Deccan know Vijay Deverakonda as the original ‘Kabir Singh’. Deverakonda played titular Arjun Reddy in the Telugu blockbuster, which was remade in Hindi starring Shahid Kapoor. Now, if the rumours are true, Karan Johar has paid mind-blowing Rs 6 crore for the Hindi remake rights for ‘Dear Comrade’. According to the Times of India report, this is the highest-ever fees paid for movie from down South.

Johar had recently announced that he will produce the Hindi remake of Vijay Deverakonda's film "Dear Comrade". He took to Instagram to share the information. But soon rumours were buzz that the Dhadak couple Jhanvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khattar has been cast for the lead roles. But the filmamker clarified that no actor has been cast in the Hindi remake of Vijay Deverakonda's film "Dear Comrade".

Johar has bought the rights of the Bharat Kamma-directed Telugu movie, which released on Friday. He had announced on Tuesday that he is producing the Hindi remake. After the news went viral, many urged the producer to cast Shahid Kapoor in the lead looking at the success of "Kabir Singh", the Hindi remake of Deverakonda's Telugu hit "Arjun Reddy".  

"All the best and big success to the team of #DearComradeOnJuly26th. Also a clarification no lead actors have been considered or approached for the film as yet. The planning for this lovely film is underway," Johar tweeted on Thursday last week.

 

The director, who has previously served as the distributor for "Baahubali", "Baahubali 2: The Conclusion" and produced "The Ghazi Attack", said he is "super excited" about "Dear Comrade" remake.

This is the second movie of Deverakonda, which will be remade in Hindi, after "Arjun Reddy". Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the Hindi remake titled "Kabir Singh" is the biggest Bollywood hit of 2019 as of now. It featured Shahid Kapoor in the titular role along with Kiara Advani. The cast and director of "Dear Comrade" Hindi version is yet to be revealed.
