The woman, who had accused television actor Karan Oberoi of rape and extortion, was arrested on Monday by the Oshiwara Police, reports TOI. The woman is accused of filing a false complaint against Oberoi and helping orchestrate an attack on herself on May 25 when she was taking a morning walk. In the purported attack, two men riding on bike slashed her hand with a sharp object, threatened to throw acid on her and left a paper chit which read "take back the case".
A case was registered against two unidentified people under section 324 (Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and other relevant sections. The police had told TOI that one of the attackers is a distant relative of the woman’s lawyer and during the interrogation confessed that he had "assigned them the task of threatening his client for money."
