Kareena Kapoor Khan is considered one of the most bankable Bollywood actress. Undoubtedly she has carved a niche for herself and has reigned all the media platforms be it cinema, TV or social. On the occasion of Women Day, the actress poured her heart out on topics of pay gap in Bollywood and being under the shadow of her star sister Karishma Kapoor.
Kareena emphasing on her shares of struggles and how she built up an identity of her own away from her family lineage told Pinkvilla, “I think a lot of people still looked at me as Lolo’s sister which I am extremely proud of. I think whatever I am has a lot to do with Lolo as well. I had my own struggle when it came to breaking that image too. Because when you are attached to being Lolo’s sister, coming from the Kapoor family. Kareena shared that people today has the perception the celebrity kids don’t have struggles in life, and often her sacrifices and hard work is pushed under the carpet.
Kaeena became a fitness icon advocating size zero when she started shooting for Kambaqt Ishq with Akshay Kumar. Speaking about her body time and how she adopted a newlifestyle Kareena revealed she loved her ‘chubby self and the fact that she is a typical Punjabi kudi who goreges on parathas. “But then the pressure took over. People were like will she look good in glamorous roles.” Added kareena
Kareena is now among the highest paid actresses in the Hindi film industry. Commenting on pay disparity, she added, “I did demand a certain fee and I don’t think there is anything wrong in it. You put in equal amount of time and effort so obviously, you want a certain amount. Of course, if I have demanded something, I have been replaced but it is just that you don’t hear about it.” The buzz is that Kareena was replaced by Preity Zinta in Kal Ho Na Ho as she demanded same pay as Shah Rukh Khan.
On work front Kareena will be seen in an extended cameo in Angrezi Medium that releases this week.
