Refugee, which came out in 2000, wa the debut film for both Kareena and Abhihek. Directed by J. P. Dutta, the film told the tory of a man who help people cro the border between India, Pakitan, and Bangladeh through the Great Rann of Kutch. It wa looely baed on a hort tory called Love Acro the Salt Deert by Keki N. Daruwalla. The film wa one of the top earner of that year.
