With a more aware society, the release of Pati Patni Aur Woh trailer received huge backlash from the masses for throwing-in a ‘rape’ line for the sake of comedy. In the comedic Kartik Aaryan-Ananya Panday and Bhumi Bednekar starrer, Aaryan in one of the scenes can be seen ranting, ‘Biwi se sex maang lein, toh hum bhikaari…..Biwi ko sex mana kar de, toh hum atyachari aur kisi tarah jugaad laga ke uss se sex haasil kar le na, toh balaatkaari bhi hum hain.”
The trivialisation of ‘rape’ for the sake of comedy drew massive criticisms following which, Bhumi Pednekar, in an interview even apologized and said, “If we have hurt anybody’s sentiments, we are sorry, because that wasn’t the intention. But everybody who is involved in Pati Patni Aur Woh, does not belong to that school, does not belong to that thought process.”
Now the producer of Pati Patni Aur Woh, Juno Chopra, has come forward and clarified that they have removed the questionable line from the film. Talking to Mumbai Mirror, Juno Chopra said, “Both my grandfather and my dad (Ravi Chopra) made socially relevant films and while I haven’t made one yet, I believe in doing the right thing. Respecting people’s sentiments we’ve edited out the lines.”
