The first song from Akshay Kumar starrer Kesari is finally out. Titled Sanu Kehndi, the track showcases the camaraderie between the 21 men who fought the Battle of Saragarhi. The song has been composed by Tanishk Bagchi and crooned by Romy and Brijesh Sandilya.
Director Anurag Singh had said in an interview, ''The song displays the bond that these 21 guys share. We just wanted to show them having fun before things get serious. Tanishk has based it on a folk tune from Punjab and created this lovely, peppy number that’s full of masti. Kumaar, who everybody knows is superb at writing Punjabi numbers with a great hook line, has penned the lyrics. The song will appeal to everybody.''

Kesari is based on the battle of Saragarhi fought between the British Indian army’s Sikh Regiment and Afghan tribesmen in September 1897. A total of 21 Sikh soldiers, who were part of the British Indian Army, were attacked by 10,000 Afghan tribal warriors. These 21 soldiers fought like lions to protect their country from the enemy.
Talking about his experience of working on the film, Akshay had earlier said, ''I’ve started shooting for my film Kesari, where I’m in the heaviest turban and beard I’ve ever had to wear. So I shaved my head to make my life a little easier. I’m known for hating wigs, prosthetics and so on, and Kesari is quite demanding. It’s probably my favourite look, though it’s taxing to fight and sweat in this avatar. But I wouldn’t change it for the world.”
Kesari also stars Parineeti Chopra, Siddhant Sharma, Ashwath Bhatt, Pawan Malhotra and Rana Ranbir. The film is slated to release on Holi on March 21, 2019.
