Konkona Sen Sharma's recent release 'Lipstick Under My Burkha', which was released this Friday after much of a debate, has got a slow start at the box office as it managed to earn just Rs 1.22 cr on its day of release. The movie which talks about women empowerment in the patriarchal society, has got rave reviews from the audience and critics. 'Lipstick Under My Burkha' which was touted to be 'too lady-oriented' had its share of controversies which included a stay on its release too.
But despite all the hype and controversies, 'Lipstick Under My Burkha' couldn't fetch in the expected box office numbers on its day of release.
According to the media reports, the movie, which was released on 400 screens, witnessed an avereage occupancy during the morning show.
Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh, took it to micro-blogging site Twitter to share the first day collections of the movie and wrote, "#LipstickUnderMyBurkha picked up towards evening shows... Fri ₹ 1.22 cr <400 screens>. India biz."

However, it is also reported, that a big word of mouth might boost the weekend collections of the movie. On the other hand, 'Munna Michael' is expected to mint around a favourable amount on its day of release.
