New Delhi:

Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam on Wednesday shaved his head in reaction to a fatwa issued by a cleric from West Bengal, who had announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh to anyone who shaves his hair off and after his tweets about the use of loudspeakers for azaans.

The azaan row, which began after singer Sonu Nigam, in a series of tweets, described as hooliganism the use of loudspeakers to broadcast sermons and calls to prayers by mosques, temples and gurudwaras, refuses to die down.

The singer shaved his head on live TV just after his press conference in Mumbai on Wednesday.

Syed Sha Atef Ali Al Quaderi, vice-president, West Bengal United Minority Council, had issued a fatwa against Sonu Nigam which read: "If anyone can shave his hair, put a garland of old torn shoes around his neck and tour him around the country, I shall personally reward that person with Rs 10 lakh."

"Gundagardi hai bus (it is hooliganism)," Nigam had posted on Twitter, triggering a controversy.

On Tuesday morning, Sonu Nigam took to micro blogging site where he has said that he is ready to apologise if he has said anything anti-Muslim which he did not.

He even took a dig at a Muslim cleric, asking him to get ready with Rs ten lakh as he is ready to shave his head.

Here are the excerpts from his Press conference:

All I want to say is change the loudspeaker's time

#You should learn to understand others problem

This is no agitation, this is only to tell you that its my Muslim Brother who will cut my hair

# If I have done something wrong or insulted anyone then I am sorry.

# I am attached to everyone more then my on siblings

# You have right on to agree or disagree on what I say

# Everybody has right to speak

# I thought I should talk on this issue so I did

#When I am talking about Loudspeakers, I did mention Temples and Gurudwaras too.

# I am not against any religion

In a series of his tweets, Sonu said a few people are tainting his tweets. He questioned them where he has targeted the community and ready to tender apology if he said so.
