The plot is even more revelavant in the current times when many self-styled godmen are getting exposed.
Now, it has been reported that actor Makarand Deshpande has been roped in to play the antagonist in the film. The veteran actor will essay the character of a godman.

Talking about the same, a source told Mumbai Mirror, "It is an intense and challenging role, and Makarand has already started acting workshops with Bhaat saab. Like Maharani, played by Sadashiv Amrapurkar in the Sanjay Dutt, Pooja Bhatt-starrer Sadak, a unique look is being designed for him in the sequel."
The source added that it’s a strong and layered character with negative shades. Makarand is known for his work in Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Telugu, Malayalam cineman and has worked in films like Mere Pyare Prime Minister, Swades, Chameli and Makdee.
Sanjay Dutt on the other hand reprises his role of taxi driver Ravi from the 1991 movie, but this time as 54 year old cabbie accompanying Alia in her journey.
The report also stated that Sadak 2 will go the floors on May 18 in Mumbai. “On the first day at a city studio, the team will shoot with Sanjay and Alia, with other members of the cast joining in at a later date. Apart from Mumbai, the film will also be shot at other locations of India,” said a source.
