Ahead of Manikarnika’s release, there were reports that after the Padmavat ruckus, the Maharashtra Karni Sena have their target on Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi, a biopic based on Rani Laxmibai. The actor, however, is not going down very lightly to the alleged, ‘harassment’ much like the queen she is playing.
The film which releases next Friday is reported to have obtained a certificate from the Central Board Of Film Certification for its release. In a statement issued, Kangana also stated that she too is Rajput and will ‘destroy’ the Karni Sena if they continue to ‘harass’ her over the film's release. These allegations have to do with the fact that, Rani Laxmi Bai, was born as Manikarnika into a Marathi family in Varanasi before marrying the ruler of Jhansi.
"Four historians have certified Manikarnika, we have got censor certificate as well, Karni Sena has been conveyed this but they are continuing to harass me. If they don't stop then they should know I am also a Rajput and I Will destroy each one of them’’ Kangana added.

CBFC chairman, Prasoon Joshi who himself has been closely involved with the film had also written the dialogues and lyrics of the songs in the film, so we can expect a safe passage for the historic-drama release.
This back and forth smack came about when there were reports that the Maharashtra wing of Karni Sena wrote a letter to the filmmakers in which they were believed to have allegedly stated that if the "image of Rani Laxmi Bai is maligned in the film or if she is shown to be the lover of some Britisher then the makers will face consequences."
Manikarnika tells the story of Jhansi's Rani Laxmi Bai in the 1857 Mutiny against the East India Company and will also see Ankita Lokhande, Atul Kulkarni, Suresh Oberoi, Danny Denzongpa and Jisshu Sengupta among others.
